Avila’s Mexican Food
For over 60 years, the Avila family has been serving El Paso’s traditional Mexican food. The restaurant is still owned and operated by the Avilas and offers a complete menu at extremely reasonable prices with daily lunch specials on weekdays. Among our favorites are chile con queso, a cheese and chile dip appetizer, the chicken fajitas and the carnita plate. The restaurant was chosen one of the top 50 Hispanic restaurants in the U.S. by Hispanic Magazine. It has also been selected the “Best Mexican Restaurant†in the El Paso Times readers poll for multiple years and has cooked in Washington DC at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival—that’s saying something! Beer, wine and wine margaritas are available. Hours of operation: Mon–Thurs 11 a.m.–2 p.m. (lunch), 4:30–8:30 p.m. (dinner); Friday 11 a.m.–8:30 p.m. (lunch and dinner); Saturday 9 a.m.–8:30 p.m. (breakfast, lunch and dinner); Sunday 9 a.m.–3 p.m. (breakfast and lunch).
